We are responsible for personal data collected through our websites, app, Aura chat and support services, acting as controller or data fiduciary where applicable. What health data means
Health data is information that describes or can reveal your physical, mental, sexual or reproductive health. It includes information you tell us, reports you upload and health-related estimates made from your records. A period date, a fertility question or an appointment request can be health data even without a diagnosis. Estimates and AI suggestions may be wrong; they are not confirmed medical facts.
Account and contact information
Depending on the features you use, we collect your name, age, contact number, recovery email, language, country, state or city, account credentials, consent choices and support messages. We may also collect relationship details and information about your partner when relevant. Share another person's information only when you have appropriate authority and permission.
Health records and their purpose
You may record period dates, bleeding or spotting, cycle symptoms, pregnancy history or status, fertility goals, time trying to conceive, diagnosed conditions and treatment history. You may also enter height, weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, HbA1c, thyroid or vitamin results, sleep, stress, mood, pain, skin changes and other symptoms. These records help you keep a dated history, view patterns and prepare for a conversation with a clinician. Not every record is required for every user.
Tests, reports and care activity
Information can include fertility test names and results, scans, laboratory reports, partner fertility information, appointments, care-plan activity and reminder choices. Uploaded reports may contain names and other sensitive details. Upload only material relevant to your care and remove unrelated information where possible. Recording a test is not a recommendation to have it.
Phone health connections and biometrics
Where supported, you can choose to connect Apple Health or Android Health Connect and allow selected steps, sleep and workout summaries to be copied to ParentAura. This requires your permission; it does not give access to everything in your health account. Disconnecting removes the imported summaries held by the connection feature; revoke device permissions separately in your phone settings. Optional Face ID or fingerprint checks are handled by your operating system. ParentAura does not receive your fingerprint image or facial biometric template.
Technical information and sources
We receive information directly from you, from an authorised person acting for you, from health connections you enable and from authorised care workflows. We also generate records of account access, consent, feature use, errors and security events. These can include IP address, device or browser information and timestamps. We use essential cookies or device storage for sessions, security and preferences. Our Cookie Policy explains these uses.
Why we use your information
We use relevant information to operate your account, keep records, show summaries and estimates, answer Aura questions, provide requested reminders and support, coordinate appointment requests and follow up on enquiries. Requests for consultations may enter our staff coordination system. We also investigate errors, protect accounts, handle complaints and meet legal obligations. Health tracking, optional quality review and promotional messages are different purposes; accepting this notice is not blanket permission for all of them.
Consent and legal grounds
We seek consent where required, including for optional health connections and the OpenAI quality-review pilot. Depending on the activity and applicable law, other grounds may include providing a service you request, legal obligations or legitimate interests such as account security. Sensitive health data needs an additional permitted condition where the law requires one; legitimate interests alone are not a substitute. You may withdraw consent for future processing. Withdrawal does not undo processing that was lawful before withdrawal, but we will consider applicable deletion duties.
Aura: using your conversation
Aura is an AI-assisted service developed for ParentAura to help you organise health information and understand your journey towards motherhood. To respond, it can use your current message, recent conversation and relevant saved profile or health information. This context helps it follow the discussion and avoid unnecessary repeated questions. Relevant content may be sent to the configured AI provider, including DeepInfra for live responses. It is not processed only on your phone. Report uploads use the separate upload page.
How AI learns, in simple words
An underlying AI model learns patterns during a separate training process carried out before it answers your question. During your chat, Aura uses the information available for that response; it does not automatically retrain its underlying model after every message. Remembering a saved record or using chat context is different from changing the model. The current ParentAura system does not run a model-training pipeline on your chats. Improving instructions, questions, validation and app behaviour is also different from training a model.
Optional conversation quality reviews
Where the quality-review pilot is offered and you opt in, selected future conversations and checks against related saved Results may be sent to OpenAI and viewed by authorised ParentAura reviewers. The aim is to find confusing questions, missed information and possible mistakes. We reduce known identifying details, but health information and identifying clues may remain. These copies are not guaranteed anonymous. Participation is optional and does not determine access to care or ordinary app features.
Your review choice and what improvements mean
You can withdraw from the optional pilot in Profile. This stops future review collection and removes ParentAura pilot copies; an already-sent provider request may finish. Withdrawal does not itself remove original chats or saved Results. Review findings are proposals for people to assess. Approved changes must be checked, tested and released. Reviews do not automatically change your saved Results or activate new rules. Historical chats are not automatically included merely because you agree to future review.
Short diagnostic excerpts
Separately from the optional OpenAI pilot, the current app can retain short excerpts when Aura misunderstands a message or repeats a question. These support error investigation and service improvement. The diagnostic copy removes known identifiers and does not store account, contact or conversation links, but free text may still contain sensitive details. This is not the same as anonymous statistics or the optional full-conversation review. Contact us with questions or to exercise applicable rights.
AI providers and retention
AI processing involves external providers and their applicable service terms. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default unless the customer opts in; service and abuse-monitoring retention can still apply. ParentAura sends quality-review requests with response storage disabled, which is not a promise of zero provider retention. DeepInfra states that inference inputs and outputs are not stored, sold or used for training without explicit consent. Provider policies and the configured service must be considered together; contact us for information about the providers relevant to your account.
AI limits and your decisions
Aura can misunderstand or produce an incorrect answer. Review proposed entries before confirming them and correct inaccurate records. Predictions are estimates, not diagnoses or a promise of pregnancy. Aura does not independently prescribe treatment or replace a clinician. Medical decisions remain with you and qualified professionals. Ask support for help with an AI response or a disputed record. For urgent symptoms, use your local emergency or medical services.
Who receives information
Access is limited by role and purpose. Recipients can include authorised staff, the clinician or clinic involved in a requested service, and providers of hosting, AI processing, secure communications, notifications, storage and support. A consultation request may require sharing relevant contact and care information for coordination; it does not make your full chat history public. We may disclose information when lawfully required or necessary to protect rights and security. Any business transfer involving data remains subject to applicable law and notice or consent requirements. We do not sell personal data.
How long information is kept
Original account details, chats, health records, reports and care records are retained according to their purpose, your requests, legal duties, dispute handling and security needs. They do not all expire after 30 days. ParentAura quality-pilot copies and diagnostic excerpts have separate 30-day expiry settings and cleanup processes. Provider copies follow applicable provider controls. Deletion may need to account for lawful retention and backup cycles; contact us for the retention information relevant to your request.
Security and international processing
We use safeguards including server-side access controls, encryption for selected sensitive fields, protected credentials and security records. No system can guarantee complete security. Our providers may process information outside your country, where protections can differ. Applicable transfer requirements must be met, including contractual or other safeguards where required. Contact [email protected] for information about relevant recipients, processing locations and available safeguards.
Your choices and rights
You can review and correct supported records, manage available permissions and consent choices, and contact us to request access, a copy, correction or deletion of personal data. Depending on applicable law, you may also request portability, restrict or object to certain processing, obtain information about disclosures, appeal a refused request or appoint an authorised representative. We may need proportionate identity verification. We will explain any lawful reason for refusing or limiting a request and respond within the applicable legal period. You can complain to your relevant privacy regulator.
Additional regional protections
If European or UK data-protection law applies, its protections for sensitive information, processing grounds, international transfers and rights apply alongside this notice. If Indian law applies, you may exercise applicable access, correction, erasure, grievance and nomination rights under provisions in force. US state privacy and consumer-health laws may provide additional consent, deletion, disclosure and appeal rights where their scope and requirements apply. Other countries may provide further rights. Contact us with your country or state so we can handle your request under the relevant law. This is not a waiver of local protections.
Consumer health requests and appeals
Where consumer-health legislation applies, you may ask whether we collect or share your health data, seek access or deletion, and withdraw relevant consent. Email [email protected]; to appeal a refusal, use the subject ParentAura Privacy Appeal. We will explain the outcome and any further complaint route required by law. For Washington-related complaints, the Washington State Attorney General provides a complaint process. Additional jurisdiction-specific health notices and consent requirements apply where required by law.
Adults and policy changes
ParentAura account registration is for people aged 18 or over. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the service, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate steps. We update this notice when practices change and display its revision date. Material new uses require appropriate notice and any consent required by law before they start.
